On 06 Jul 2014, Deepa Thomas shared with us the keys to achieving a breakthrough in our life. Just as an aeroplane has to wait in the hanger for its appointed time, then move slowly towards the runway, gain momentum and finally take off, achieving breakthrough is also not a one day affair. Hear the audio and discover more on how you can achieve breakthrough in the areas of life where you are finding yourself stuck and not moving.

1 Kings 18:41-45

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.” 42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

43 “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked.

“There is nothing there,” he said.

Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”

44 The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”

So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”

45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

How can a child of God break through the mountain that he is facing, and just take off from the runway like an aeroplane? The three keys towards achieving your breakthrough are:

  • Invite God into the situation where you need the breakthrough.

The first key towards achieving your breakthrough is “partnering God with you”. That’s the beginning of any breakthrough. Sometimes it could be returning back to God with repentance or sometimes it could be an unbeliever who has to come to the divine moment in life where he understands the importance of having God in his life. Unless you sit down and spend personal time with God and tell him to come and talk with you about the situation, your breakthrough would not begin.

Just as in the bible verses mentioned above (v. 42), Elijah seeks the Lord and prays to the Lord for rains to come.

  • Hear the sound of your breakthrough

Some people want to really see the breakthrough happen and not hear its sound.

Elijah could hear the sound of rain, but neither King Ahab (who was waiting for the rains, but still went off to eat and drink), nor Elijah’s servant could hear the sound of rains. Physically, going by the sight, both King Ahab and the servant could not hear the breakthrough (the servant went and looked and said, he can see nothing there). But God had given a prophetic word to Elijah in his spirit about the breakthrough that was coming, so he could hear the sound of rains even in the midst of the circumstances that pointed out otherwise.

The seventh time that the servant looked, he reported seeing a cloud just the size of a fist, but Elijah told to prepare and alert the king about the abundant rain that was to come. When servant saw the empty sky and how little the cloud was, Elijah saw the abundant rains in it. That’s the difference of how a child of God sees his breakthrough.

It is important that our attitude be that of hope, and not that of hopelessness; an attitude of certainty and not that of doubt; not an attitude that always points to the problem areas. Breakthrough is a journey that a person has to take in partnership with God, and in that, attitude is very important. Have the attitude that will make you ready for the breakthrough.

  • Take action

Do something about it. Take some action, both in physical and spiritual sense. Breakthroughs are more spiritual than physical.

Elijah prayed and asked God for a breakthrough. And he does not stop there, he tells the servant to go and look. Do not just keep waiting for your breakthrough. Start moving in the anointing that God has given you. Take action. Start operating in the anointing of God and do things that are close to God’s heart.

Are you today waiting for some breakthrough in your life?? Do you know that even while you are waiting for your breakthrough, God is waiting for you because He already has your breakthrough in His hands. He is waiting for you to understand this truth and just claim it and take it from His hands. You are the greatest catalyst in your breakthrough. No one else can stop you.

So go ahead, partner with God, hear the sound of your breakthrough and take some action! Have a blessed day.
