God has the final say over your life. This cannot be said in anyway simpler and demonstrated in the life of Jacob. To begin we look at 4 verses from Proverbs 21, the beginning 2 and the last 2.

Proverbs 21 New International Version (NIV)

1 In the Lord’s hand the king’s heart is a stream of water
that he channels toward all who please him.
2 A person may think their own ways are right,
but the Lord weighs the heart.

30 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan
that can succeed against the Lord.
31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the Lord.

Begining with the end we are assured that the Victory belongs to the Lord. All that we need to do in our collaboration with the Lord is to be ready. This cannot be ours unless we beleive what Gods words says through the bible and receive what Jesus has done on the cross.

A public defeat of the enemy. No longer do we need to be deceived by the lies and fears caused by the enemy. “Fear not” is the encouraging word for the church today. We need to receive this and come back to the heart of worship, a worship where you heart conditions is desperately seeking God.

(Genesis 25 – 33)
Jacob’s life was a life of continuous running despite the fact that God’s words to Rebekah that the older will serve the younger.(Gen 25:23). Jacob obeyed his father and worked with Laban(uncle). After hearing God’s word to head back to his fathers land, he is again at a place where he is fearful of facing his elder brother Esau from whom he has take advantage twice. Jacob sends his men and his flock ahead, then his wives and children. He is alone that night where he has a “never to forget experience with God”. The next day he meets his brother Esau and we see how God changed Esau’s heart towards his brother Jacob.

We can see how Jacob’s does it right(Read commentary) when he has to bless his grandson (Joseph’s children) in reflection of his understanding and submission to God’s divine selection.

As we try to connect Jacob’s life to the four verses, the take away for us is to submit our plans to God and he will ensure that the hearts of people around our life be channeled as He wills.

Submit and surrender everything to GOD and experience the victory that rests with the Lord
